Our course has been developed out of the experience of over 20 years training teachers. We know what you need to be a teacher and make sure all those elements are included. As well as the obvious teaching of asana and pranayama we also know the importance of a grounding in anatomy and physiology. We teach this from the perspective of yoga practice. The course further provides a background in yoga philosophy to give context to your teaching and practice and as a framework for great discussions. These form part of the self development aspect of the course along with the self-awareness built from the practice of asana and pranayama.
We have an excellent record in training competent and skilful teachers who are confident to teach. The vast majority of our students end up as long term yoga teachers ranging from teaching 1 or 2 classes a week to making yoga a full time job and career (see below for testimonials). There is comprehensive training in how to deliver and adjust postures which forms a central part of the course - see video below.
With his background in the British Wheel of Yoga Richard was trained to deliver, assess and verify teacher training courses, and he has additional qualifications in mainstream education. This means our course is structured as a teaching course giving an in depth examination of the practice of asana and pranyama and how to teach them.
One of the great advantages of training with us is that due to our experience we are able to provide intensive days covering lots of content. This cuts down the number of days for our course and we have modest charges per day. It is not in the spirit of yoga to be greedy and overcharge and does not fit with the way we want to run our courses (or our lives!).
The next in-person course begins in February 2025 and runs for 20 days. Student numbers will be limited to a maximum of 20. The course costs £1800, payable in four instalments.
There is ongoing support throughout the course outside of course days and even after the course has finished. We believe it is very important to continue to support our new teachers as they begin and continue along their teaching journey.

There is no such thing as Government Accredited course in the UK (even though some yoga schools would like to pretend they are!). In recognition of our long term links with the BWY we have had our course and our school accredited by them so you will be certificated by the BWY and able to access their insurance and membership. Our course has also been examined by insurance underwriters and has been approved as a bona fide teacher training course which means you will be able to get independant insurance as a qualified yoga teacher.
No, we train you how to teach! The type of classes you go on to teach is up to you according to your own experience and interests. In fact, we feel it is very important to support each new teacher to develop a teaching style that is individual and authentic to them. We do however teach many styles from Ashtanga to Yin Yoga and so have the personal experience to guide you along the way.
Our course meets for one Sunday a month from 10am to 6pm. for 20 days over 2 years. It runs from a community centre in Telford where we have both classroom and practice space and the most important kitchen facilities! Free parking is available.
Although this is not an online course, there is the option to attend the day on Zoom. We also have a library of online video lectures on all the main aspects of the course enabling you to revisit the topics in your own time.
Thinking of Yoga TT course? I couldn't think of a better course to attend.
I'm not sure what is most impressive Richard and Kat's knowledge of the physical practice or their openminded understanding of the theory and philosophy of Yoga which is second to none. I have been teaching Yoga for over 20 years and after attending Richard's course became a full time Yoga teacher. I wouldn't send my students anywhere else.

The yoga teacher training course I did with Richard Adamo was a hugely rewarding experience. The course combines desk based study with varied practical sessions, which I particularly enjoyed. Richard is a very experienced yoga teacher and he created a relaxed environment throughout the course. Richard was always approachable and encouraging, with a wealth of knowledge and a good sense of humour. As a working mother, the part-time structure of the course suited me well. We had plenty of time to explore our own yoga practice as well as having the opportunity to meet other people and develop our teaching skills in a supportive setting.
Highly recommended!

I took the BWY diploma teaching course over 20 years ago and was lucky enough to have Richard as my course tutor.
Richard is an inspirational teacher with a wealth of knowledge and experience that he is keen to share and a commitment to ensure his students reach their full potential. With his encouragement and positive attitude I gained the confidence and skills to become a successful yoga teacher and share my passion for yoga with others.
I continue to enjoy Richard's teaching and attend his yoga workshops and online classes whenever possible.

I completed a teacher training with Richard Adamo and found his standard of teaching and knowledge to be very high. Richard has a wealth of knowledge in yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology, teaching asana and adjustments, breathing and relaxation. Our open class discussions on yoga philosophy were enlightening and honest. The practical sessions where students were encouraged to work together were good and helped to consolidate learning.

I am a full time yoga and dance teacher and have the best job 😍🧘♀️💃. I trained with Richard from 2011-2014. I loved every minute of my teacher training course. Having practised yoga for many years I wanted to develop my knowledge further and be able to share my passion with others. Having done several yoga workshops with Richard I knew I wanted to work with him. My three year training course definitely gave me a strong foundation to being an all round yoga teacher.

Richard’s teacher training course was recommended to me by my teacher. Despite my initial reservation about not being good enough to be a yoga teacher, I couldn’t have made a better decision. Richard and Kat are fantastic! Richard has a 30+ year career in yoga (I am sure he will hate me for saying), but his love and enthusiasm for yoga comes through in every class. The course is well balanced between yoga practise, philosophy, anatomy and physiology and teaching techniques. There is the inevitable homework, but the exercises are enjoyable and challenging, and even though I have a few months before I qualify, I already feel ready and confident to teach my own classes. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Richard and Kat are not only skilled and inspiring yoga teachers, they are also wonderful yoga teacher trainers.
Their ability to combine knowledge and passion with experience and authenticity means that they can clearly explain even the most complex of yoga philosophies, asanas and pranayama. They create an environment where everyone can learn at their own pace encouraging all to challenge themselves. Richard and Kat cater to all who wish to further their practice bringing joy, fun and curiosity to the process of life long learning.

I absolutely loved my teacher training course. The physical practice side of the course was fantastic, however I particularly enjoyed the discussion sessions where we talked openly as a group about our lives and the ups and downs, and how to deal with them through being resilient but also by knowing when to make a change. This has made a bit impact on my life.
The course has given me perspective on life and has allowed me to think more clearly.

Extract from current course looking at adjustments in Reverse Trikonasana. A complex pose with many areas that can be worked on!
These general guidlines for the most common adjustments are a great starting point for learning how to adjust students. Skills are then practised by working in pairs and small groups to gain hands on experience.
The understanding of how to adjust in poses is one of the most important skills that a teacher needs along with accurate instructions and logical class design
This something that many people struggle with. Focussing on how to prepare long term is the key to get the body [and mind!] ready. Exercise patience and when you are ready the pose will happen
!
What is pranayama and how does it differ from ordinary breathing? Really on a sliding scale as with all yoga preparation is key. Once you have assimulated these techniques then you will be doing pranayama naturally!
